Coronavirus Update- August 14th, 2020

This is an important update for all clients. For the foreseeable future we will be continuing curbside service as we have been since late March. We have decided to continue with this approach for several reasons.  First, we feel it will protect the health of our team and our clients. Second, as schools and daycares start to open we anticipate that further virus spread will occur. When this occurs, it is plausible that the clinic, in its entirety, may need to shut down for an extended period of time. This will mean we would have to cancel all surgeries and appointments in that time. We need to do our best to prevent this from happening. We are still working through our previous backlog of surgery, wellness and sick pet appointments. Any further delays due to the coronavirus will make that backlog even worse. Finally, staying curbside allows us to be more efficient in our service. Decontamination procedures take time and cause significant delay. This will make our backlog even worse.

For those that have been avoiding or have postponed appointments in anticipation of our opening up further, we apologize for the inconvenience. It is best if you book those appointments now.

Lastly, we cannot predict the future. However, it does seem probable that in the next year our clinic may need to shut for an extended period of time due to illness. We may only need to shut for a day or much longer depending on circumstances and government requirements. For our profession in particular, this will be quite unique. Personally, I have not taken a sick day in 10 years of working. A lot of my staff are quite the same. This will no longer be an option. We will continue to do our best to help your pets any way we can during that time.

We thank you for your understanding.
-Dr. Jack and the staff of Hyde Park Veterinary Hospital
